RobotC and RVW

We have become the first Indian company to use RobotC which is a powerful C-based programming language for writing and debugging programs. It is the only language that offers a real time debugger. It is developed by RoboMatter Inc., in association and with intellectual properties from the Robotics Academy, Carnegie Mellon University.

Why is this so significant? One may ask. Imagine you are a kid in 6th grade. You think, just like the rest of the world, that robots are really cool and all you want to do is build one, but you don’t know any programming language. What do you do? Is there an easy-to-learn language with a special set of instructions that describe a robot’s behavior? Oh wait, there is! That’s right kids, with RobotC’s natural programming language, you don’t need to learn a programming language. All you have to do is drag and drop commands that are part of a vast library which describe a robot’s behavior.

Alright, so that’s the programming. What about the robots? Doesn’t a LEGO robot cost nearly twenty large ones? Many eyebrows will rise when people read the next sentence. Now, you can simulate the LEGO robot in a 3D environment using Robot Virtual Worlds, another RoboMatter creation. So now, all you need to do is write your code for the environment where the robot will try to achieve its objective. The number of environments is just going to increase from now on. There is even talk of a level builder, where you build your own environment, the possibilities seem endless.
